Ashok&am p;#39;s exten ded family i ncludes his wi fe Radha (Sha bana Azmi),  his brother Ja tin (Javed Jaf frey), th eir ailing moth er Biji (Kusha l Rekhi) and t heir ma nservant Mundu (Ranjit Chowd hry), all li ving und er the same  roof. At first gla nce, you s ee a happy m iddle-class fa mily going th rough the normal paces of ev eryday  life. Howe ver, as the la yers are slowly  peeled back, we fi nd a simme ring cauldro n of discontent within th e family,  with al most every fami ly member li ving a lie. Bot h marriages in the family  turn out to  be emotiona lly emp ty, withou t love or pass ion. While Asho k is an ascetic who has take n a vow of celibacy, Jatin i s a handsome la dies&#39 ; man who is still  openly s eeing Julie eve n after his marriage t o Sita. Ashok has pled ged his tota l devotion t o a religio us holy man, a swami, in ord er to pur ge his life of worldly des ires and tempta tions. Radha,  bound by her s ense of duty to her husband , agrees to go al ong with hi s wishes. As you can im agine,  with both hu sbands igno ring their s pouses& #39; emotiona l and sexual needs (al beit with reas ons that ar e totally oppos ite fro m each other) , it is on ly a matter of  time before Rad ha and S ita look  to one anot her for comfort and to satisfy  their ow n passions.
