详细介绍：The history of Danish c ountry church archite cture is told by show ing scenes o f how the church was use d by the congr egation, beginning wit h the cel ebratio n of mass i n a small an d simpl e wooden c hurch 80 0 years ago, and ending with the congregation s inging in a village ch urch of to-day. The developm ent and the gro wth of the pattern of church ar chitecture is s hown. Dreyer in this film shows a series of churches f rom different periods with churchgoe rs in period c lothing. Each period is separated by a shot of a church b ell double- exposed on th e sky. Although the film has a vibrant and instruct ive way of communicati ng the differe nt epochs a nd styles to students, it d oes not exhibit the ar tistic quality that usually d istinguishes a Dreyer film, except perha ps in some of the c ostumes, whic h were origina lly made fo r Day of Wrath. The b oard of Da nsk Kultur film in a utumn 1945 dec ided that the ir plann ed church f ilm would exclusively be about village c hurches. Dreyer w ould rework the script th at was written by editor a nd folk hig h-school princi pal Ber nhard Jensen, aided b y a com mittee o f experts con sisting of ar chitect H. Lø nborg-Jens en and Victor Hermansen, curator a t the Nation al Museum of D enmark. Dreyer had a first draft ready in mid-March , entitle d Kirken er et gammel t Hus ( &quo t;The Churc h Is an Old Ho use& quot;), whi ch was dist ributed to the me mbers of the committee for their comm ents. In the la st half of July, Dre yer and Victor Hermansen travelled th e country to loo k at sui table chu rches. They researched th e details and at Dreyer ’s request a number of tech nical c hanges were made to the churches, including t he removal of porcela in hold ers for elect rical wirin g in Tveje Mer løse Chur ch. On 4 July, Dreye r went in advance to R ingkøbing. Sh ooting w as set to s tart a few da ys later with the arr ival of t he director o f photogra phy, Pr eben Frank , who had fal len off a ladder and br oken his leg , Fortuna tely, he was re ady to cau tiously start working again wi thin a few days, with hi s leg i n a cast. Otherwise, the product ion went without a glitch. Everyw here, Drey er said, they were well rec eived at the vicarag es and t hey had no problem gettin g enough e xtras. O n 1 august, they returne d to Cope nhagen w ith almos t all their footag e in the can. T hey only needed to fil m the ch urch in Sk elby, where t he weather had been aga inst them, plus a Sw edish wooden c hurch in He dared. The ec onomy was distr essed so soon after th e war, espe cially wh en it came to foreign curr ency, but there were no real w ooden churches left in D enmark an d building an interior s et in th e studio would be too expe nsive. The f inished film was shown for the first ti me on 24 Sep tember 1947 to a sma ll, close d circle , whic h included th e Minister for Ecclesiast ical Affa irs. In Dece mber 1947, as was Dan sk Kulturfilm ’s standard practice, the fi lm was presen ted to th e press, politicians a nd others on a programme with four othe r short films.详情
